Guiding Principle #4: Promote a More Perfect Union

We continue the patriotic tradition of dissent in the pursuit of liberty and justice for all. We are governed by values, not just rules and rulers. Government should reflect the people.

We continue the patriotic tradition of dissent- Nothing is more American than Dissent. Our country was founded on protesting and fighting for our Emancipation from Great Britain. The reason we speak English in America is because America was a colony of England aka Great Britain. And we emancipated ourselves in 1776  after protests, petitions and an all out war. This is our bloody ugly history.

We are governed by values, not just
rules and rulers.

Government should reflect the people: “We The People” opens the first line of the Preamble to the United States Constitution, the highest law of the land. So I ask, Who are the people? When you think of America or the average American what do you see? See a Person of color, disabled person, Native American a women? Do you see Puerto Rico and the Puerto Ricans?

Values: Bill of Rights- We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

Are our current American values in line with our founding principles?

Immigrants built this country: Chinese, Italian, Irish, Africans who were enslaved, etc.

Everyone knows the famous quote, "“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.” It comes from Emma Lazarus’ sonnet, New Colossus, which she wrote to raise money for the pedestal upon which the Statue of Liberty now sits.

The date on tablet is July 4, 1776, the day the United States adopted the Declaration of Independence.

What are our current values? Are they in line with our founding principles?

How do we draw a bigger circle and invite more people so our Government reflects the people?
