Yesterday I joined #LoveArmy, the #WomensMarch, #1BillionRising, Moms Rising, the Revolutionary Love Project and hundreds of organizations and faith leaders across the country to reclaim Valentine's Day as a Day of #RevolutionaryLove, Day of Rising. #RevolutionaryLove is resisting executive orders and policies that put people in harm’s way. It's committing to fight for social justice through the ethic of love -- love for others, for our opponents and for ourselves. Simply put, it's standing up, speaking out and fighting for what is right. Every. Single. Day. I vow to practice #RevolutionaryLove by standing up in solidarity with refugees, immigrants, Muslims, Sikhs, LGBTQIA people, Black people, Latinxs, Jewish people, women and girls, Indigenous peoples, people with disabilities and all people in harm's way. I will protest policies rooted in racism, sexism, religious intolerance, ableism and all other forms of inequality and bigotry. I will fight systemic injustice, not just individuals, and will speak out against it even when my voice trembles. We can't take freedom for granted. We must come together, stand up and speak out for an inclusive country where EVERYONE counts and EVERYONE matters. By turning TO each other, instead of ON each other, we make this nation strong. We are better together. I hope you'll join me and stand with the most vulnerable, listen with empathy and expect to learn and act out of love, not fear or hate. "It is our duty to fight for our freedom. It is our duty to win. We must love each other and support each other. We have nothing to lose but our chains." Assata Shakur
